Politician responds to Trump personal attack

Politician responds to Trump personal attack - Click for larger version Aberdeenshire councillor, Debra Storr has responded to personal attacks and allegations made in an open letter to her by Donald Trump.

The letter, which was issued to Councillor Storr through the media by the tycoon makes several claims against the local politician in relation to the issue of gates being locked at the Menie Estate preventing public access to the area.

Councillor Storr said:

“I was extremely surprised to have learned of Mr Trump’s correspondence through the press and considering his comments in the letter regarding publicity stunts, it is somewhat bizarre.  The fact that Mr Trump has resorted to personal abuse seems little more than an attempt to deflect attention away from the real issue of legal public rights of access at Menie Estate.

The public access controversy came to a head at the weekend after Storr was contacted by a constituent who had found that public access had been blocked for the second weekend in a row.  When she visited the area she was followed by what later turned out to be a security guard employed by Donald Trump, and later blocked and prevented from leaving.

Under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, and the Outdoor Access Code, land owners must allow access to land.

“Everything I have done has been perfectly lawful. Indeed, I have myself submitted a formal complaint to Grampian Police regarding the unacceptable behaviour of Mr Trump’s staff towards me at the weekend which was at the very least a very frightening experience.”
