Last week's decision by the Aberdeenshire Liberal Democrat Council Group to expel Councillor Debra Storr could be examined by the Scottish Liberal Democrat's Appeal process, only if all sides involved in the dispute agree to it going ahead.
Councillor Debra Storr said: “I have no interest in returning to the Group so long as Anne Robertson remains leader but my expulsion is a gross injustice. “This wrong must not be allowed to stand. The Party’s Appeal Tribunal can hear the appeal with the agreement of the Council Group. If the Council Group leadership are confident in the probity of their decision, then they have nothing to fear from having the decision independently examined.” "The right of appeal is inherent in all proper systems of justice. I am confident of the outcome of the appeal and will, of course, accept the verdict of the Appeals Tribunal whatever that may be. I call upon my former colleagues to do the same. "The Aberdeenshire Council Liberal Democrat Group made an unsuccessful attempt to exclude my colleague Martin Ford earlier this year. The subsequent investigation by the Party concluded that the attempt to exclude Cllr Ford 'was not justified'." Debra Storr who was one of the seven councillors who opposed the Trump development in her ward resigned from the Group on Tuesday evening. The Aberdeenshire Liberal Democrat Group met on Monday evening but failed to tell her that they had resolved to expel her until Wednesday. The decision to expel Cllr Storr last week was made by a show of hands at a group meeting.
