Stuart Kennedy, the Aberdeen stripper known as Sergeant Eros, is due to appear in Aberdeen Sheriff Court today, Thursday 23 October 2008 for his trial in relation to being arrested and charged with Impersonation of a Police Officer.
The charge for today's case was brought after Kennedy was arrested following his male stripper act at the Tiger Tiger night club in Aberdeen in November 2007. A charge of Assault from the same arrest was later dropped. Kennedy's trial for this particular case has been postponed three times however it is expected to go ahead today. The charges in today's court appearance is one in a long list of charges made by Grampian Police against Kennedy since he was first arrested almost two years ago after two female police officers arrested him after watching his performance in an Aberdeen pub. The original arrest and charges were thrown out by the Sheriff Court however the Crown appealed the decision which then led to the Judiciary Appeal Court throwing out the case without even hearing Kennedy's evidence. Kennedy has since been arrested by Grampian Police on seven occasions and has spent over 120 hours in police custody. Kennedy was most recently arrested by two police officers last Sunday (19 October 2008) morning when he was spotted sending a text message from his mobile phone whilst standing on Union Street, Aberdeen. He was held in custody until Monday morning during which time he suffered an asthma attack and despite several requests to officers at the Queen Street Police station, he was not provided with medication or medical assistance. He now plans to lodge a formal complaint against Grampian Police.
