Glasgow City Council has voted in favour of a planning application for Go Ape to build a course in Pollok Park following a site visit.
Members of Glasgow City Council's Planning Committee voted by 14 to 6 in favour of Go Ape's application to build a high wire forest adventure course in Pollok Park.
Chief Executive of Go Ape, Tristram Mayhew said:
“"We are pleased that the committee was able to visit the site this morning so that councillors were able to see the plans as they actually are and that it gave an opportunity for some of the myths to be dispelled.
"We are of course pleased that the application has been approved at this stage and we are very grateful to the hundreds of people who have sent in letters of support.
"However we are aware that this may be a disappointment to those who have objected to the Go Ape course in Pollok Park. We are acutely sensitive to the concerns of some individuals and we will continue to actively listen and to see where we can accommodate particular worries.
"We believe that the Go Ape course will provide a socially and environmentally responsible activity which we hope will encourage people to challenge their fears and to enjoy the tree tops from a unique and fun perspective."
Go Ape provides award-winning high wire forest adventure courses made up of rope bridges, tarzan swings and zip slides all set high up in the tree tops. The company has won numerous awards as well as having the support and recognition from environmental and forestry bodies.
Ends.
